Airport Details


The airport is located approximately 7.5km from the hotel. A taxi can be organised by the hotel at a discounted flat rate (maximum 4 people per taxi), or alternatively you may book a Shuttle at approximately $20 per person and $5 per additional person.


Baggage Storage


If you are leaving later in the day or you wish to leave things with us whilst travelling elsewhere throughout New Zealand to collect on your return, we have secure baggage storage. Please contact reception.





Additional blankets are located above your wardrobe or the clothes hanging area. If you require extra blankets, please contact reception and we’ll be pleased to deliver to your room.





Our restaurant is open Monday to Friday 6:30am to 10:00am (7:00am to 10:00am on weekends) for breakfast. You can choose between a full buffet breakfast (if available), or continental breakfast. Alternatively you may order from our a la carte menu.


Please note that restaurant hours on public holidays may vary.


Room Service:

For breakfast delivered to your room, simply fill out the menu form at the back of this compendium and either hand it in to reception or dial ‘0’ for a porter to collect it.

If you are departing earlier than 7:00am, we can deliver a continental breakfast to your room the evening prior, or you can order an “on-the-run” breakfast to collect from reception as you check out.



Business Services


Photocopy, fax and email services can be provided from reception. Photocopying and faxes are 10c per page (additional charges may apply to international faxes).


There are guest computers available at our internet kiosk in the lobby.  Charges: Free 20 minutes per room, $5 for 1 hour, $10 for 2 hours.






Check out time is 10:00am. Please arrange with reception if you require a later checkout time and we will endeavor to accommodate your needs. Late checkouts must be booked no later than the night prior to departure. A fee may apply for check out times after 11.30am.


Coffee/Tea Making Facilities


Complimentary coffee and tea making facilities in your room are replenished daily. If you do require more coffee, tea and sugar simply dial ‘0’ and we will deliver to your room.


Please contact reception on ‘0’ if you require fresh milk. There are small capsules of long-life milk in your refrigerator.



Cooking and Food Preparation


In some rooms, cooking facilities are provided along with a range of equipment and utensils. Should you require additional items simply ring ‘0’ and we will accommodate you where possible.


Please note that if there are strong cooking odours in the room (such as curry or fish), where it takes additional time to remove the smell, an additional charge of one night’s accommodation may be incurred.



Conference/Meeting Facilities


Pavilions Hotel has two conference rooms. Audio visual equipment, secretarial, and catering services are available.  Please contact us if you wish to hold a meeting as there are times when the rooms are available at short notice. A detailed conference pack is available from reception.



Credit Cards


We accept most major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners and CRT. We charge 1.5% surcharge on all credit cards.





A dentist is available just 3 doors down from Pavilions Hotel heading south towards town.



Dining Options


Menus can be found in your room and we recommend that you make reservations for dinner with reception.


We invite you to visit Jimmy’s Restaurant, Bar, and courtyard areas to dine. All are located in the main block next to reception.


If you prefer to relax in your room we can deliver food and beverages to your door for a standard room service charge of $3.00.


If you have food allergies or special dietary requests please let the wait staff know when you order and they will be more than happy to assist you.

Dry-cleaning and laundering service operates on a same-day basis and is available Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays). Leave dry-cleaning at reception before 9.00am for same-day service. It will then be delivered to your room before 5pm that evening.


There are dry-cleaning bags located in your room along with pricing.



Electric Blankets


Electric blankets are on all beds.  Settings are 1 low, 2 medium, 3 high.  Do not leave your electric blanket on overnight. Ensure your children’s blankets are switched off and be aware of how spilled water affects electric blankets.





We have a gym on site with a variety of cardio equipment, weight machines and free-weights.  Please obtain a key from reception.

Hours 7:00am – 9:00pm.



Housekeeping service rooms daily between 10:00am – 1:30pm.  If you do not want to be disturbed please place your ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door.  If you wish your room to be serviced outside these hours please contact reception and we will do our utmost to accommodate your needs.





If you have your own wireless device, we have in room wifi with passwords available for purchase from reception. We offer 20 minutes free wifi per room, per day, or $15 for 24 hours.

For those not travelling with a wireless device, we have an Internet Kiosk available in the lobby for a small charge. We offer 20 minutes free per room, $5 for 1 hour or $10 for 2 hours.

The guest laundry is located behind the reception building on the ground floor, with its entrance outside by the clothesline.

Automatic washing machines and dryers are available and operate with $2 coins. The washing machine requires 1 x $2.00 coin, and the dryer requires 2 x $2.00 coins. Each cycle takes approximately 45 minutes. Detergent is available from reception desk at a cost of $1 per packet.


Guest Laundry is open from 7:00am to 9:00pm daily.



Loss and Damage


If you cause any damage to your room or any loss of hotel equipment from your room, you will be charged for repair or replacement, so please contact a Duty Manager so that we can discuss these charges prior to your departure.




Lost and Found Policy


When housekeepers find any items left behind in the room we will contact the guest who was last in the room to advise the item is there and hold it here on request or return the item (at their cost, by courier). If we are unsure of who the item belongs to, a description of the item is entered into our lost and found log along with room number and date of stay. If there is no enquiry for the item after 3 months it is disposed of. Perishables will not be kept.





Please leave any mail you wish to be posted at reception. We have a postage machine. If you are still expecting mail when checking out, please leave a forwarding address.





A complimentary copy of our local newspaper is available upon request. Contact reception for morning delivery or collect your copy from the front desk any time.





If you have a problem with any external noise please contact reception immediately so that we can address the situation as soon as possible.


We have a ‘No Noise Policy’ after 9:30pm so please respect other guests after this time.





There is ample FREE on-site guest parking around the hotel.  If you do not have parking directly outside your room you should be able to find a close-by parking spot on-site. If you are still having difficulty parking on-site contact reception so that we can help recommend the best area for you to park.





There is a ‘Z’ Petrol Station across the street and 50 metres to the left. They are open 24 hours and have some fast food and grocery items also.





We have a strict No-Pets policy.




A 24 hour pharmacy is nearby on the corner of Bealey Ave and Colombo St.

Room Service


Enjoy 24 hour room service. Menu options are located in your room. You may also order beverages such as beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks or juice. There is a $3 fee for all room service deliveries.


All rooms have a fully-stocked mini-bar with pricing.





Our sauna is situated upstairs in the main reception building. To use this free facility please call reception approximately 20 minutes before you require it so we can turn it on for you. Towels are provided in the sauna room, and there is a shower and toilet.


Please remember to switch off sauna after use or inform reception that you have finished.



Safety Deposit Facilities


We have safety deposit bags available at reception at a cost of $2.00 each. You are welcome to place any personal belongings in our safe. Please ask at reception.




The nearest mall is Merivale Mall – A small boutique mall, less than 1km heading north. Open weekdays 9am-6pm, Thursday 9am-7pm, Saturday, Sunday 10am-5pm. Fresh Choice supermarket is open 7am-9pm daily.


Northlands is a large mall approximately 3.4km north on Papanui Rd. Open Monday-Wednesday 9am-6pm, Thursday, Friday 9am-9pm,  Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday and Public Holidays 10am-6pm. Countdown supermarket is open 6am-midnight daily. Pak’n’Save supermarket is open 7am-11pm daily.


Westfield Riccarton – the largest mall, is 3.2km west. Open Monday-Wednesday 9am-6pm, Thursday, Friday 9am-9pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday and Public Holidays 10am-6pm. Pak’n’Save supermarket is open 7am-11pm daily.


Smoking Facilities and Policy


Our rooms are non-smoking rooms.  There will be an additional charge of one night’s accommodation if you smoke in a room.  Please note that there are  designated Smoking Areas around the hotel with ashtrays provided. Please contact reception if you are unsure of the location of these areas.


Smoking in all hospitality venues, including bars, restaurants, cafes, and casinos, is prohibited in New Zealand.





Management frequently checks the hotel to ensure all rooms are secure. For your own assurance we ask that you use the security chains on your door, or if you are staying in the Tudor Block (a room that starts with 7xx) press the inner lock.



Swimming Pool and Spa


The swimming pool and spa are located outside behind reception. Hours of operation are 8:00am to 9.30pm. Beverages ordered from the bar can be delivered poolside.


The pool is heated from October through to April. Children are to be supervised at all times.





Please ask reception to book a taxi on your behalf as we do have preferred set rates with the taxi companies.





Please use the pre-programmed buttons on the telephone in your room or contact reception on ‘0’ for assistance.  All calls are automatically logged and charged to your room account.  All country and area codes are listed in the front of the telephone directory. Dial the room number for room to room calling.


0800 or 0508 numbers are free of charge. Business rates apply for all other calls.


Please press ‘1’ for an outside line. If you are having difficulty getting an outside line then call reception and we will assist. If the red light on your phone is flashing, push the pre-programmed button ‘Play Message’ to listen then ‘Delete message’ button to delete.


Television and DVD’s


In your room you will find a guide to your television and the 100+ movie selection of DVD’s available. DVD movies are complimentary and if you call reception with your selected DVD number, we will advise which channel it will play on.


Each television is specially tuned so we ask that you do not adjust your set. Please call reception and a porter will happily assist you if required.





We are an environmentally aware hotel. Please help us to help the environment by placing all towels that require laundering in the shower. If you would like to re-use your towel, please place it on the towel rack.


If you require extra towels contact reception and we will deliver to your room.



Transport and Bus Services


City bus stops are on the hotel side of the road, turning right when leaving Pavilions, outside the Strathern Motel.


Northlands Mall bus stop is on the opposite side of the road, turning left when leaving Pavilions, outside the ‘Z’ service station.

Christchurch water is fed by underground springs and the city tap water is crystal clear and pure. It is clean, clear and safe to drink straight from the tap.
